Gonzalo Higuain Transfers From Napoli to Juventus
Juventus have continued their summer of spending, as the defending Serie A champions have added another star to their squad. It has been confirmed that Argentinian striker Gonzalo Higuain will be moving from Napoli to Juventus. Both Juventus and Serie A have confirmed this transfer, which gives the Italian club another offensive weapon.
Higuain had an amazing run of form last season, as he recorded 36 goals in 35 matches played for Napoli. Leading the league in goal scoring and breaking a 66-year-old Serie A scoring record. Netting nine braces and one hat-trick in the process.
More recently, Higuain was playing for Argentina at the Copa America. He scored a total of four goals in the tournament, with two braces against Venezuela and the United States.
Napoli fans will most definitely miss their leading scorer, as Higuain accounted for almost half of the club’s goals last season. Lorenzo Insigne netted the second most goals on the squad last year with a total of 12. The rivals of Juventus have a right to be concerned at the moment. As it is hard to see anyone matching what Higuain was able to produce last season.
Higuain joins an already growing list of players that the Juventus have signed this season. Miralem Pjanic, Dani Alves, Marko Pjaca, Mario Lemina, and Mehdi Benatia have been some of the key signings this summer.
The transfer fee was reported to be €90 million, which makes it the most expensive transfer in Italian football history. The deal was reported to be for five years.
