Olivier Giroud will not be leaving Arsenal in the winter transfer window, his agent had revealed.
In November, Giroud was linked with a move to the Serie A but his agent has publicly dismissed those reports, ruling out a move away from the Emirates in January
The French international has had a difficult start to the current campaign, losing his place to Alexis Sanchez at the beginning of the season and has been restricted to cameos from the bench.
That prompted reports linking the striker away from the Emirates but his agent Micheal Manuello insists his client is happy at Arsenal.
“I’ve never been in contact with Italian clubs. Olivier is very happy at Arsenal,” he said in an interview with Foot Mercato, as quoted by The Express.
“He’s going to finish his season here. Nothing is possible in January for Olivier. He has no intention of leaving this winter.”
All well and good, Giroud will not be leaving Emirates in the winter transfer window but that doesn’t necessarily guarantee that his long term future is secured.
The French man has 18 months left in his contract and may want to use the summer to reassess his future if things doesn’t change before then.
Should he be unable to force his way back into the starting xi, then his future will certainly be up in the air in the summer again.
