As if the things could not have been worse after the hammering Champions League defeat at Allianz Arena, fresh rumours linking jack Wilshere to Manchester City are sure to be another huge blow for Arsenal fans.
North London club are not having the best week.
The best month actually, as Gunners succumbed to yet another frustrating defeat which has effectively ruined their chances of finally getting past the Champions League last-16 round after five long years.
Bayern Munich are on their way to end Arsenal’s dreams for the third time since 2012, after a compelling 5-1 home victory, which puts them in driving seat with both hands firmly on the wheel.
And as Arsene Wenger is just coming to terms with what happened in Germany, increasing reports are popping up – linking Arsenal on-loan midfield star Jack Wilshere with a move to Manchester City.
Self-confessed Arsenal fan and a long-serving midfielder at the Emirates, Jack Wilshere has struggled with injuries for the good part of his career and was sent out on loan at Bournemouth to get an extended first-team spell so that he could gain back fitness before returning back to Arsenal.
The England international still has another 18 months on his contract with the Gunners, but claims he will no decide on his future until the summer, which ultimately leaves plenty of room for speculations to keep flowing.
And according to former Barcelona midfielder Xavi, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is ready to jump to a chance to sign the player he holds in high regard.
“I know Pep has always had a lot of respect for Wilshere – he impressed so many of the Barcelona team when we played Arsenal in 2011. At the moment he seems to be doing well with his fitness – and if there is a chance to sign him in the summer – I am sure Pep will give it real consideration.”, Xavi told Fox Latin America.
Pep Guardiola was even pictured talking to the Arsenal man in the tunnel before the game against Bournemouth, which only fuelled the speculation Wilshere could be on his way to the Etihad Stadium in the summer.
