Martin Keown has admitted that he is a huge admirer of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
The German coach has just begun his first full season in charge at Anfield after being brought in as Brendan Rodgers’ permanent successor on Merseyside last October.
Klopp appears to have won over the Liverpool faithful quickly with his direct and passionate management style in his first few months as manager.
The Reds have produced some scintillating attacking performances this season, including during the 4-3 win over Arsenal and the 4-1 thrashing of Leicester City last weekend.
And former Arsenal defender Keown has revealed just why he is such a big fan of the German manager.
Writing in his column in The Daily Mail before Friday night’s clash between Liverpool and Chelsea, Keown said: “Jurgen Klopp is a breath of fresh air. It’s the start of a new beginning at Liverpool with the new Main Stand.
“He’s tapped into the emotion of the club very quickly because he is the most emotional manager in the Premier League.
“Before Liverpool’s trip to White Hart Lane last month, Klopp watched Tottenham warm up from the halfway line.
“It was as if he was trying to make the opposition players think they’d have to impress him!
“He also came out early for the second half and stood up when the Tottenham players were coming back on to the pitch to identify any weakness in their demeanour.
“He wants opponents to know that they will have to play against him, and that his teams are a reflection of his personality.”
Next up for Klopp’s Liverpool side in the Premier League is a home clash against Hull City at Anfield on Saturday 24 September.
The Reds finished in eighth place and without a trophy last season during Klopp’s first campaign in charge.
