Arsenal have received a huge setback ahead of Saturday’s clash against Southampton as midfielder Aaron Ramsey recovery has suffered a setback.
The 25-year-old suffered a hamstring injury during our season opening game which ended 4-3 defeat to Liverpool.
During a Press Conference, Wenger revealed the Welsh man and Nigeria international Alex Iwobi should be expected back in action following the international break.
“They are progressing well. Will it be immediately after the break [that they are back]? That’s what we’ll have to see in the next two weeks.”
Now, the Telegraph reports Ramsey will be missing from our game against the Saints on Saturday as reports claims Wenger was desperate to include him in the squad to face the Saints
Wenger decision to feature the player has sparked mixed reaction from Wales manager Chris Coleman for not giving a sufficient break to Ramsey following his participation in the Euro Cup.
“It’s disappointing he’s got an injury. Could it have been prevented? Possibly, yes,” said Coleman.
“I think we all expected him to [miss the start of the season].
“So I don’t know what happened between then and when he ended up on the pitch.
“Obviously, only Arsenal can answer that. I think, to a man, if you were looking at [Arsenal’s team-sheet], it was a bit of a surprise he started.
“I think Aaron said himself [in France] that he wasn’t expecting to.”
