Arsenal are still interested in signing Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema despite signing a striker in the summer, according to reports.
The striker has been linked with a move to the Emirates in the last couple of transfer windows but Wenger has been unsuccessful in his attempts to lure him away from Madrid.
And now Spanish news outlet, Merca Futbol via the Daily Express is claiming Arsenal are still interested in the French man.
Arsenal signed former Deportivo La Coruna striker Lucas Perez in the summer transfer window and the report suggests Wenger is not satisfied.
The Arsenal manager is already planning to bring in a big name striker next summer and is prepared to spend as much as £40m on Benzema.
The French striker has been an integral part of Madrid squad since he joined them in 2009 and the Spanish side will be reluctant to sell him. Madrid have been suspended from signing players in the next three transfer windows and won’t want to lose a key player like Benzema this period when they know they can’t sign a replacement.
Benzema has scored 112 league goals in 218 appearances for Real Madrid since he joined them and would have been a quality addition to our squad but the chances of signing him are very slim.
