Barcelona manager Luis Enrique and technical secretary Robert Fernandez have agreed that Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin is their next priority transfer target, according to reports from Sport.
The Gunners ace started his career in the Catalans’ youth set-up but left them as a teenager to join the north London club in a similar manner to Cesc Fabregas.
And as was the case with the now-Chelsea midfielder, Barcelona are reportedly looking to lure the defender back to the Camp Nou, with filling the right-back position now a priority.
It was mooted during the summer that Bellerin was a target for the La Liga champions, but Arsenal’s reluctance to sell and the Blaugrana’s financial constraints prevented a deal from going ahead.
Yet now it’s understood that, despite suggestions converted midfielder Sergi Roberto is seen as ideal for the right-back role, Barcelona are once again interested in Bellerin – who they see as Dani Alves’ long-term heir after the Brazilian left the club to join Juventus during the last transfer window.
Enrique and Fernandez are said to have held talks regarding the Gunners starlet and the resources are reportedly in place to make a tempting offer.
Sport also claim Barca’s interest is set to intensify over the coming few weeks as they look to ensure Arsenal are unable to tie their man down to a new contract.
