Neymar has been the subject of the biggest transfer speculation, as a potential move to PSG has been mooted which would shatter previous records.
Today, the Catalan giants have released a statement confirming that the Brazilian forward is keen to leave the club, but he won’t do so unless the right price is offered.
“The player Neymar Jr, accompanied by his father and agent, has informed FC Barcelona this morning of his decision to leave the Club in a meeting held at the Club’s offices.
“Faced with this position, the Club has informed them they refer to the buy-out clause of his existing contract which as of 1 July totals 222 million euros which will have to be deposited in its entirety.
“Furthermore, in reply to the claim for the contract extension bonus, the Club has once again made it clear that the amount remains deposited with a notary until the case is resolved.
“The player remains under contract at FC Barcelona but with temporary permission to not take part in training sessions.”
This is a price that would blow previous transfer records out the window, as the Parisian club will be forced to fork out a whopping €222 million if they are to obtain the services of the Brazilian superstar. The previous record, Paul Pogba’s switch to Manchester United last summer, would be more than doubled.
With the French giants eager to push on and challenge for the Champions League title, Neymar would be a superb acquisition.
