With his Carolina Panthers opening the season Thursday in a Super Bowl rematch against the Denver Broncos, Newton and Under Armour debuted an intense new spot that features the quarterback running through a forest and breaking through trees that stand in his way.
The theme of the ad is the phrase “Prince with 1,000 enemies,” which plays into the narrative that Newton has overcome those who doubted him and showed disdain for his antics and attitude. Not to mention, the 1,000-plus NFL players outside of Carolina who want to keep him from winning football games.
