Cris Cyborg enters her second UFC fight this weekend against newcomer Lina Lansberg as a massive favorite to do what she’s successfully done in 16 of her 18 professional fights: win.
According to oddsmakers over at Bovada.lv, Cyborg currently sits as a -1200 favorite over underdog Landsberg (+700), and given her success in the sport, it should come as no surprise that her moneyline is so ridiculous.
However, this isn’t new territory for Cyborg.
In her first UFC fight at UFC 198, she entered the bout as a -1200 favorite at Bovada, and as high as -2000 at some books. During her time under the Invicta banner, she was a -1250 favorite against Charmaine Tweet, a -2000 favorite against Daria Ibragimova and a whopping -3000 against Faith Van Duin. Those were all title defenses against the best the promotion had to offer and she finished them all in devastating fashion.
By comparison, Ronda Rousey was a -1600 favorite in her title defense against Bethe Correia, but outside of that, was never more than a -1000 favorite in her UFC career — albeit against what would appear to be tougher competition.
It’s no doubt that Cyborg is arguably one of the most dominant fighters of all time, and at this point in her career, akin to Rousey and boxing great Mike Tyson in their primes, we’re watching to see when and how — not if — Cyborg finishes the fight.
