Juventus will step up their pursuit for a new midfielder when the transfer window reopens in January. The Old Lady failed to find a replacement for Paul Pogba who rejoined Manchester United on a world-record fee in the summer.
Herrera, 26, was believed to be on the verge of joining Napoli in the previous transfer window before a disagreement over the fee meant that the player had to stay put at Porto. According to SportMediaset, the Mexican international will be the subject of transfer bid in the New Year with Serie A champions Juventus being his latest admirers.
Max Allegri had sent his chief scouts to keep a watch on the player during the Dragons’ clash against Boavista on Friday night. Apart from Herrera, Zenit St.Petersburg’s Axel Witsel has also been linked with a possible switch to Turin. Porto currently rate Herrera at around £30m, and they are unlikely to settle for anything less.
