Late Giroud Goal Wins it for Arsenal

Olivier Giroud’s 89th minute goal proved to be the winner for Arsenal as they defeated Preston North End 2-1. The French striker has come up big for the Gunners as of late, he scored the equalizer in the club’s comeback draw earlier in the week.

Preston North End went ahead just seven minutes into the game, with Callum Robinson netting the opening goal. Aiden McGready sent a perfect pass into the box that was deflected right into the path of the onrushing Robinson. They looked better side in the remaining minutes of the first half, as Arsenal struggled to produce.

 

The second half would be a different story for the away side. They equalized right away in the 46th minute, as Aaron Ramsey produced a fine finish. However, they would have to wait over 40 minutes to find the winner. Lucas Perez backheeled a pass right into the path of Giroud who would dispatch it home for the late winner.

Arsenal move on to the fourth round of the FA Cup, with the draw taking place on Jan. 9th.
