Representatives from Premier League giants, Liverpool, are understood to have now travelled to Lisbon, Portugal, in order to complete the formalities for signing William Carvalho from Sporting Lisbon, according to reports in A Bola.
The 24 year old has been known to be an important target for the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal too, in the recent past; however, with both the sides failing to lure him to their respective dens, the Reds are keen to make the most out of the opportunity.
Carvalho, who has played in 29 club games so far this season, and also has 28 international senior team caps under his belt, is widely considered to be one of the most highly rated defensive midfielders of his generation. In addition to that, the player is also capable of plying his trade in the centre of the field and at the heart of the defence.
The Portuguese ace surely has the potential to be an excellent and immensely useful signing for Jurgen Klopp’s side. And on account of his strong built and strength, he may even prove to be an excellent fit to the immensely physical Premier League.
Carvalho, meanwhile, is known to have his deal with Sporting running until the summer of 2020 and the club are wishful of pocketing at least £25m from his sale.
