New England Patriots vs. New Orleans Saints Recap
The New England Patriots defeated the New Orleans Saints at Foxboro Stadium on Thursday night. There was no Tom Brady in the lineup, which allowed backup quarterbacks Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett to share quarterbacking duties for the night.
Jamie Collins would get the scoring underway with a 43 yard interception return. The Patriots linebacker collected a tipped pass from Drew Brees and ran it back to give the home side a 7-0 lead.
Mark Ingram would tie the game later in the quarter with a one yard touchdown run. He would add a second touchdown run early in the second quarter to give the Saints the lead.
The Patriots would regain the lead later in the second quarter, to take a 16-14 lead into the locker room. LeGarrette Blount scored on a one yard touchdown run and Stephen Gostkowski added a 38 yard field goal.
Tyler Gaffney scored the lone touchdown in the third quarter with a 44 yard touchdown run. This was his first game back after missing last season with an injury.

The Saints made things close at the start of the fourth quarter when Luke McCown connected with Reggie Ball for a four yard touchdown pass. However, Trey Flowers would end hopes of a comeback after he recovered a McCown fumble for a touchdown later in the quarter. Gostkowski added his second field goal of the night to finish the scoring, as the Patriots went on to win 34-22.
