Tim Krul has had a bit of a nightmare time of it at Ajax this season, where he cannot seem to make the bench for the side never mind play a first team games for them.
The loan deal hasn’t worked out the way Tim or Newcastle wanted it to – which was to have Tim play a full season of competitive football as he attempts to fully recover from a serious ACL injury he picked up playing for his country.
And Rafa Benitez is clear that Tim needs to play games this season and he has basically put out a message to any club who would take Tim and play him for the rest of the season.
This is what Rafa said yesterday about his Dutch International goalkeeper:
“Tim is a top-class keeper who needed some time because he has been injured.”
“He has been playing for the Ajax U21 team, so if someone is interested in a keeper then it’s always a name that people will look at.”
“We’ve had one club asking, but we weren’t very happy with the idea because it was not the right club.”
“But if someone is asking, then we have to consider it, because we sent him on loan with the idea for him to play.”
“It’s important for him to keep playing, or have his chance.”
Tim is being kept out of the Ajax side by 20 year-old Cameroon International Andre Onana, but if you don’t get games it’s difficult to prove you are back to your old form.
It’s a disaster for the 28 year-old at Ajax and it’s just a bit late to find a club for him where he could play – but not impossible.
We hope Tim can be fixed up at another club in the next three days.
