Steven Gerrard has admitted that Manchester United have a very good chance of finishing in the top four this season.
The Red Devils are currently sixth in the Premier League table after a stuttering start to life under Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford this term.
However, Manchester United have been in improved form in recent weeks and are now unbeaten in 16 Premier League games as they bid to climb the table in the closing stages of the season.
Mourinho has been tasked with steering Manchester United back into the top four this season after their fifth-placed finish under Louis van Gaal last term.
And former Liverpool captain Gerrard has assessed Manchester United’s hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.
Speaking to BT Sport on Saturday night, Gerrard said: “I think they’ve got a very good chance [of a top four finish].
“Confidence is high, they’ve got a world-class manager and the key at this time of the year is momentum and Manchester United have certainly got it.
“But there’s going to be two big hitters out of the six that are going to miss out. It’s going to be very intriguing now until the end of the season.”
