Strong Second Half Leads Freiburg to Victory
Three goals in the second half paved the way for a 3-1 victory for SC Freiburg on Saturday afternoon. The club from Southern Germany was down 1-0 at halftime as Borussia Monchengladbach looked to be on their way to three points.
Thorgan Hazard was the provider of the opening goal as he produced a splendid curling effort that beat the keeper far post. The tally gave the Belgian midfielder his first Bundesliga goal of the season.
In the 54th minute it was Maximilian Philipp that netted the equalizer as he smashed it into the upper right corner.
In the final ten minutes the home side would score two goals to put the match away. Philipp would score the go ahead goal in the 85th minute with a wonderful first time hit that rolled into the lower left corner. Nils Petersen secured the three points with a 88th minute penalty.
Up next Freiburg will travel to Koln to play a Friday night match under the lights. Borussia Monchengladbach host Werder Bremen on Saturday evening.
