Strong Third Quarter Lifts Wizards to Victory

A 38-point third quarter propelled the Washington Wizards to a 109-106 win over the Charlotte Hornets. The home side were tested in the fourth quarter, as they were outscored 29-22. However, Kemba Walker would miss a potential game-tying three-point shot as time expired.

John Wall led the way for the home team with a double-double, putting up 25 points and ten assists. Bradley Beal had 20 points, and Marcin Gortat chipped in 16 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double performance.

In addition, Wall had a historic night for the Wizards as he recorded his 763rd steal, which sets a new franchise best for all-time steals.

The Hornets were led by Nicolas Batum, as the shooting guard put up 2o points in the losing effort. Cody Zeller and Kemba Walker were close behind Batum, with 18 and 17 points on the night.

Up next, both teams will hit the road for Friday night matchups. The Wizards will face the Detroit Pistons and the Hornets will play the Boston Celtics.
