Bayern Munich are preparing a bid for Mesut Ozil, according to reports.
Ozil’s future at Arsenal is currently up in the air as his contract expires at the end of next season. Arsenal have been in talks with the playmaker to extend his contract but an agreement is yet to be reached.
It is claimed the midfielder wants a huge increase to his current deal which the club is reluctant to pay. Different figures have been quoted by the media but they all claim that Arsenal do not have the financial capability to meet those demands and this has in turn placed the midfielder’s future in doubt.
According to the Daily Mirror via the Daily Express, Bayern are now keeping an eye on Ozil and are keen to sign the midfielder this summer.
The German club will continue to monitor’s the players situation with the hope that he doesn’t sign a new contract before they launch a bid in the summer.
Barcelona are also said to be interested in Ozil and are expected to rival Bayern for his signature.
This will come as a huge blow to many of us who are still hoping Arsenal can find an agreement with Ozil.
The German has been one of our best players since he completed his £42.5m move from Real Madrid in 2013 and will be a big blow if we lose him.
Recent developments that have seen us fall out of the title race may put us in a difficult situation in negotiations but should the club show enough desire to challenge for titles in subsequent years, we could just convince him to sign a new contract with us.
