World heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has tested positive for cocaine in a VADA-conducted test, and will likely be stripped of his world heavyweight titles, sources told Dan Rafael of ESPN.
Fury was set for a title rematch with Wladimir Klitschko on Oct. 29, but pulled out last week when his camp declared him “medically unfit.”
The positive urine sample was reportedly collected during a random test the day before Fury pulled out. The testing for performance enhancing drugs has yet to be completed.
Promoter Frank Warren said he was confident the rematch would eventually take place, despite Fury delaying the bout for the third time.
Fury and Klitschko fought last November, with Fury winning by unanimous decision to claim the WBA, IBF, and WBO titles, and snap Klitschko’s 10-year winning streak.
